The Sinking Costa Concordia

The luxury cruise ship ran aground off the coast of Tuscany, sending water pouring in through a 160-foot (50-meter) gash in the hull and forcing the evacuation of some 4,200 people from the listing vessel early Saturday, the Italian coast guard said. The number of dead and injured is not yet confirmed Coast Guard Cmdr. Francesco Paolillo said.

Baby girl with mermaid syndrome - Amazing Birth Defect

Milagros, who is now a year and eight months old, was born with a rare congenital defect known as sirenomelia, or "mermaid syndrome" and had surgery in June, 2005 to separate her fused legs. The deformity occurs in one out of every 70,000 births and there are only three known cases of children with the affliction alive in the world today.
